I don’t usually delve into topics like this but the uproar over the Indiana Defense of Religion Act or whatever they are calling it is absurd.
Lets look at Section 2 and 3:
Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, “compelling governmental interest” means a governmental interest of the highest magnitude that cannot otherwise be achieved without burdening the exercise of religion. Sec. 3. (a) As used in this chapter, “exercise of religion” means the practice or observance of religion.7(b) The term includes a person’s ability to: (1) act; or (2) refuse to act; in a manner that is substantially motivated by the person’s sincerely held religious belief, regardless of whether the religious belief is compulsory or central to a larger system of religious belief.
There is truly nothing wrong with any of this. It is not discriminatory in any way because if my religious beliefs lead me to oppose something than that includes my ability to “act” or “refuse to act”. If I am a Christian, and I am, and I am asked to do something that violates my beliefs whether they are religion based or just my personal ethics, I, like everyone else on the planet, should have the right to say no. Period. I should not be compelled to accept something just because you do.
This is another area where the country has gone wrong. We have sought independence and ego driven lives for so long that morality and truth has been lost on us as people. If someone disagrees with us well then they must hate us!
Maybe they just disagree on that subject.
Beliefs have become an all or nothing for the progressive crowd and everything they believe must be accepted or else it is hate speech or hate thought! Which would result in a mental hate crime! It’s all ludicrous. How you live your life is up to you. You can deal with the end result when your time is up and how I live my life should be up to me and I will deal with the consequences of that when I meet my maker. It is that simple. Being gay or living that lifestyle is a choice not a religion but that is what they want us to believe.
Who then do you worship if it is a religion?
To say it is the equivalent of being a Christian is absurd on the face of it and to say it is what God intended is a big mistake.
